PCI Compliance is more correctly PCI DSS Compliance (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard), which is the set of standards/requirements aimed at enhancing payment account data security set forth by the founding payment brands of the PCI Security Standards Council, including American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa Inc. Inc. International, to help execute the broad adoption of consistent data security measures on a global basis for card processing merchants.

All members of the payment/credit card industry, including financial institutions, credit card companies and merchants must adhere to these standards if they want to accept credit cards. Failure to comply to the agreed standards can result in large fines from credit card companies, banks & even the removal of your ability to process credit cards for your business.

Progressive JPEG

A Progressive JPEG is a enhancement to the standard JPEG graphics file format specification that will gradually display a photo quality picture in site visitors browsers. This image format delivers increasingly detailed versions of the picture until the entire file has finished downloading. Progressive JPEGs can retain a very high quality of 24-bit color and offer the same web efficient compression as a standard JPEG.

Hotspot

A Hotspot is an area located in a graphic/image which contains a hyperlink. An image with hotspots is referred to as an image map. Hotspots are invisible parts of code which allow specific areas of an image to link to a page.

Promo Domains

Promo Domains are also known as doorway domains, dummy domains and feeder sites. Promo Domains are generally individual web sites (domains) used to collect, segment and filter visits to primary traffic targets/landing pages. Ineffective at best they are also used to build up relevancy for primary domains.

Most recently, we have seen an additional definition for Promo Domains, which seems even more accurate. A Promo Domain is also a throwaway or temporary marketing domain used generally by larger brands to market specific promotional campaigns.
