Web Server

The term web server is a very vague and often inaccurate term used to describe a computer providing web hosting or serving web pages. Most commonly this term is used to describe the actual physical computer which acts as a server. It is commonly called a web server because its main function is to serve up web pages. Very frequently there is nothing particularly robust about a server’s hardware, the server label is actually referring to the software installed on the PC giving it the ability to run and display web elements.
