You know, I have had argument after argument with shop owners regarding this tag. I have said over and over the major search engines, Google included, DO NOT use the keyword tag…. Like talking to the wall.
So, to finally put this subject to rest and answer this with absoluteness…
Matt Cutts has clearly stated in no uncertain terms that Google Does Not Use the Meta Keyword Tag to Rank Websites!
So, no more arguments. You will just have to write good content…. as there is no easier way.
Matt Says:
As a matter of fact, Matt clearly stated that…
It’s possible that Google could use this information in the future, but it’s unlikely. Google has ignored the keywords meta tag for years and currently we see no need to change that policy.
While I may seem bitter, that’s really not the case and this isn’t about validation… But rather about shop owners getting on with what matters and for them to stop wasting time on useless measures. Create fresh, unique and descriptive content… In essence this IS your keyword tag for Google. Nobody ever said life was easy!
Most people do not recognize a business opportunity
because it comes disguised as hard work.
